Filtration & Drainage
Overview
Drainage and filtration layers are used in civil applications to remove moisture or fine particles from the system. Geosynthetics provide a widely accepted, effective and economic alternative to traditional aggregate & sand filtration layers. TYPAR® Geosynthetic materials are manufactured using a heat-bonded process to create consistent filtration characteristics utilized in a variety of markets, be it industrial filters, geocomposites, or underground drainage layers.

Civil Geotextiles
The primary design requirement of a filtration layer for civil engineering applications is the development of a graded filter layer in the subgrade soil to maintain separation and eliminate the risk of soil mixing or ‘pumping’. TYPAR Geotextiles promote development of such filter layers because its uniquely bonded fibers create a pathway that resembles a well-graded aggregate filter. TYPAR Geotextiles provide an effective filter structure since it has both higher permeability rates than adjacent construction soils and the ability to retain fine soil particles, minimizing the piping of subgrade soils.
Landscape Fabric
The process of manufacturing TYPAR fabrics heats the continuous PP fibers and bonds the strands together under pressure to create the geotextile fabric. Bonded fabrics have predictable water flow rates under compaction, eliminating any irregularity of performance when compaction in the field. TYPAR Geotextiles will provide the same flow rates in the lab or on the job site, eliminating future clogging and costly project damage.
Geocomposite Drains
TYPAR Geocomposite drains are manufactured by combining geotextiles, nets, and membranes in various combinations to maximize performance and optimize installation efficiency. We utilize modern fabric technologies, resin additives, and manufacturing processes to maximize permittivity into the composite and increase laminar flow characteristics. Advancements in our manufacturing processes allow for thinner composite materials with improved performance characteristics and new polymer mixtures to maximize key performance characteristics.
